3Music Awards’22: Black Sherif leaves lasting impression on debut appearance

The winners of the 5th edition of the annual 3 Music Awards have been announced in a captivating ceremony at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday (March 26).

KiDi and Black Sherif, were big winners on the night. The in-person premiere ceremony aired on 3Music Network and was simulcast on its Facebook and YouTube channels and several of its accredited media houses.

KiDi won six awards, including Reggae & Dancehall Song of the Year for “Touch It,” Digital Act of the Year, Best Male Vocal Performance for “Mon Bebe,” Album of the Year for “Golden Boy,” and Artiste (MVP) of the Year, becoming the first Ghanaian artiste to win the most coveted category for the second time since the country’s culture and music biggest night’s debut.

Black Sherif won his first ever career award for Hip Hop Song of the Year with “Second Sermon.” He went on to win four awards: Breakthrough Act of the Year, Hiplife & Hip Hop Act of the Year, and Song of the Year for “Second Sermon,” on his debut at the most anticipated event.

The show was a gathering of stakeholders, musicians, professionals, fanatics, and consumers and doubled as a celebration of outstanding work (s) that generated the most public excitement within the calendar year of the scheme and also rewarded veteran musicians who have blazed the trail in the music industry.

The night also featured an exciting line-up of performances from current nominees.

Billed as the event’s opening act, Black Sherif brought the fire and the rain to the Grand Arena for a medley performance of his discography. He began on a high note with a fascinating interlude of a yet-to-be-released tune titled “Kwaku Traveler.” He later switched his flow to deliver a memorable performance of the critically acclaimed singles “First Sermon” and “Second Sermon.” “Rainful” not only opened Sherif’s entire performance, but staged rainfall gave him an energetic set.

Camidoh, Kelvyn Boy, Joe Mettle, Ohemaa Mercy, Mona 4 Reall (Hajia 4Reall), Kwaku Darlington, KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Cina Soul, were other performers on the night.
