Actor Bill Asamoah Joins 30 Other Celebrities In The Office Of Tourism Ambassadorship.

The Ashanti Regional President of the Ghana Actors Guild, Mr. Bill Asamoah has revealed that, he is willing to inculcate a sense of national pride, foster tourism through movies and expose indigenous Ghanaian movies fusion to it diaspora.

According to the celebrated Kumawood actor, he is going to ensure the promotion of Ghana to the world through quality movies, and enhance the business the aspect of film making to adhere investors in to the country, adding that, he is also inclined towards elevating Government policies and agenda through Ghanaians films.

Mr. Asamoah made this statements, after the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority, appointed the Kumawood movie star, who doubles as Ashanti Regional President of the Ghana Actors Guild, one of the country’s most phenomenal entertainment moguls as Tourism Ambassador.

After several months of deliberating and contemplating, Kumawood unanimously nominated Mr. Bill Asamoah and urged the Tourism Ministry and the Ghana Tourism Authority to hand over the baton and enable him run the affairs at the office as an ambassador.

Celebrities have the power to reach thousands and millions of people through their social media platforms and Mr. Bill Asamoah by far has proven himself to be not just an exceptional entertainer but an incredible businessman as well. The Tourism Ministry appointed 30 celebrities as Tourism Ambassadors.

This endeavor is meant to carry on the momentum currently prevailing in the tourism industry where according to the figures released by the Ghana Tourism Authority, the country received about 2,7 million tourists in 2018, surpassing the peak recorded in the initial stages.

In 2013, the direct contribution of the Travel & Tour industry to Ghana’s GDP was US$1.34 billion, representing 2.8% of GDP. The number of jobs directly supported by tourism was 124,000 and Travel & Tour investment amounted to US$303 million in 2013.

Ghana’s tourism industry development indicators have increased over the years. International tourist receipts increased from US$970 million in 2008 to US$1,068 in 2013. The number of annual international visitors to Ghana is now roughly 950,000 and is expected to grow to 1.5 million by 2024.

Confirming his appointment via Facebook, the Minister incharge of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Madam Catherine Afeku stated that, the Nana Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party government has not neglected the people of Kumasi as far as Tourism, Arts and Culture development is the Centre of concentration.

Madam Catherine Afeku revealed that, the ruling New Patriotic Government is undoubtedly going the extra mile to achieve their very best to make the Tourism, Arts and Culture, alongside the Creative Arts industry attractive and appealing for both local and foreign investors.
