Alban Bagbin Accepts Hon. Ablakwa’s Resignation From Parliament’s Appointments Committee

Speaker of the 8th Parliament, Rt. Honorable Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin on today accepted Member of Parliament for the North Tongu District, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa’s resignation from the Appointments Committee of the House.

The Member of Parliament announced in a Facebook post after a fruitful and frank meeting with the Speaker.

Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa had earlier on yesterday 30th March written to Mr Alban Bagbin, conveying to him his decision to discontinue his membership of the Appointments Committee after days of thoughtful reflection and careful considerations.

Mr Ablakwa in his letter to the Speaker described his resignation decision as a difficult one based on personal reasons and principle.

” Respectively, do take not that my resignation is with an immidiate effect and therefore I shall not be available for the vetting of nominees of Deputy Ministerial positions” Hon. Ablakwa wrote in his letter.

” May I extend to you, Leadership of the House, the Committee of Selection and the great National Democratic Congress, my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to serve as a member of the Appointments Committee in the 6th, 7th and 8th Parliaments of the Republic of Ghana” The letter further read.

The member of Parliament announcing the Speaker’s acceptance of his resignation from the Chamber’s Appointments Committee, expressed his enormous gratefulness to him.

In his post, he wrote;

” Concluded a fruitful and frank meeting with Rt. Hon. S.K Bagbin a while ago.

I am enormously grateful to him for accepting my resignation from the Appointments Committee of Parliament.

May the good Lord show us mercy and guide our steps in the journey ahead”.
