Amaarae To Perform At The Governors Ball Music Festival In New York City

Ghanaian alternative musician, Amaarae, will be performing alongside headliners, including Billie Eilish, A$AP Rocky, J Balvin, Post Malone, DaBaby, 24kGoldn, Orville Peck, Megan Thee Stallion, Phoebe Bridgers, Aminé, Cordae, Burna Boy, and Carly Rae Jepsen at the 10th edition of the New York City’s Governors Ball Music Festival. The multi-day music festival is slated for September 24 to 26, 2021 at Citi Field in Queens instead of Randall’s Island Park, in New York City.

“The event was scheduled for June in 2020 but was later cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Tame Impala, Stevie Nicks, Miley Cyrus, Flume, Vampire Weekend, Ellie Goulding, Missy Elliott, Solange, Rüfüs Du Sol, and H.E.R. would have headlined the festival.”

This year, the weekend-long festival will feature an array of genres and styles of music, including rock, electronic, hip-hop, indie, Americana, pop, folk, and more. The Gov Ball experience encompasses all of these and is unlike any other festival out there. Built by New Yorkers, for New Yorkers, the festival is always evolving, always entertaining, and always striving to exceed your expectations.

“Building a recovery for all of us means reconnecting with the iconic events that make New York City the greatest travel destination in the world,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio in a statement. “As more New Yorkers become vaccinated by the day, we’re proud to support arts and culture and welcome back Governors Ball and their fantastic lineup, including New York City’s own Princess Nokia, A$AP Rocky, and King Princess, among others.”

With 4 Stages and over 70 acts, the event will also feature the City’s best eats and highlights its incredible culinary diversity. Visual artists from NYC and around the world. A beverage program that features popular name brands, craft, spirits, cocktail concoctions, and plenty of non alcoholic options. Art installations in the form of mural towers, huge statues, and high flying inflatables. Unannounced pop up performances that surprise and delight.

The one of a kind 360° festival layout that prevents sound bleed and eliminates long walks between stages. And so much more.
