Apostle Safo Kantanka Passes

Ghana is in grief over the passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, also referred to as “Kantanka, the African Star,” a true legend.

The businessman, philanthropist, agriculturalist, industrialist, and renowned man of God died quietly on Thursday, September 11, 2025. He was seventy-seven.

During this time of grief, the Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church, which he founded, have urged the public to respect their privacy.

Funeral plans will be revealed when the time comes. According to sources, Bekwai in the Ashanti Region will host the last funeral ceremonies.

Political figures, businesspeople, and members of the Christian community have all started to pay their respects, characterising Apostle Safo as a man whose contributions would live on in Ghanaian history.

A Faith-Based and Innovative Life

Apostle Safo’s life served as evidence of his steadfast dedication to his faith, creativity, and humanitarian work.

In the late 1960s, he established the Kristo Asafo Church and gained notoriety as a preacher who preached by example rather than words.

His Kantanka brand, which produced automobiles, farm equipment, and electronic gadgets domestically, came to represent Ghanaian inventiveness.

Charity and Heritage

The charitable endeavours of Apostle Safo were outstanding. He supported vulnerable groups, funded community initiatives, and offered scholarships to deserving students.
