Basket Mouth signs a mega music deal with Empire

Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth, has secured a multi-million dollar record contract with the Empire label in the United States. “Hey guys, did I mention that I have been signed by Empire? Well… I am,” He announced the deal on his official Instagram handle on Wednesday.

The 360 deal comes after Basketmouth’s successful release of his Ladipoe, BOJ, The Cavemen, Bez, Waje, Duncan Mighty, Flavour and Phyno-assisted Highhlife album “YABASI”, as a soundtrack for the movie ‘Papa Benji’ in November 2020. In this deal, the music industry company will provide the comedian with enormous financial and other support, including direct advances as well as support in marketing, promotion, touring and other areas.

Empire is an independent record label that handles music licensing and distribution and boasts a lineup of successful Nigerian artistes such as Olamide and Fireboy DML.

Many prominent companies and artists have partnerships with EMPIRE, with music being distributed across platforms such as iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, Deezer, Spotify, SoundCloud, and Rdio, along with physical CDs and vinyl being distributed to traditional record stores.
