The organizers of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) are calling for nominations ahead of this year’s edition.
Organized in partnership with the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards scheme, which is now in its 23rd year has grown into a festival of music and entertainment that engages the entire country and beyond.
It is arguably the biggest, most anticipated-patronized and most significant entertainment event on the Ghanaian social calendar.
The call is open to local musicians, artiste managements, artistes, record labels, producers, instrumentalists, music composers, music industry stakeholders and the general public who are based in Ghana. To qualify, songs entered must have been released between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2021.
According to the organizers, there will be no manual submissions, and qualified participants are encouraged to enter through their online portal at www.entry.ghanamusicawards.com.
The deadline for filing nominations is 18th February, 2022.
Last year, the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards recognized creative achievements in 30 categories. Gospel singer Diana Hamilton emerged as 2021’s biggest winner, taking home the coveted Artist of the Year trophy, as well as the Gospel Song of the Year and the Gospel Artist of the Year awards.
The 23rd Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is produced by leading event management firm, Charter House, in collaboration with mobile telecommunication giants Vodafone.
The event will honor and appreciate musicians and other music industry players who have released work (s) that generated the most public excitement within the calendar year of the scheme and will also reward veteran musicians who have blazed the trail in the music industry. VGMA will serve as the international platform through which the Ghanaian music industry can be accessed.
