Forbes Africa has confirmed singer, songwriter, and producer Davido as one of the speakers at this year’s Under 30 Summit Africa, slated for Gaborone, Botswana.
Now in its second edition, this year’s summit will convene the world’s most elite young entrepreneurs and game-changers who will harness the power of entrepreneurial capitalism amid the continent whose growth will help define the 21st century. The four-day conference will commence on Sunday (April 23) and end on Wednesday (April 26).
Davido will participate in a talk-debate entitled “The Business of Afrobeats” on Monday, April 24. The Nigerian-based afrobeats singer, who is credited as a major contributor to the global explosion and success of afrobeats with his decade-plus reign at the top of African music, will share his wealth of experience with the corporate sector and discuss how the corporate world should invest in and cultivate African talent.
2023 Forbes Under 30 Summit Africa will feature a variety of engaging activities, such as symposiums, bush parties, exciting live musical showcases by top musicians, game drives, in-depth panel discussions, networking, and more. It will also feature keynote addresses by government officials, venture capitalists, and business role models, providing inspiration for the newest—and next—generation of leaders.
This year’s summit will welcome local performers, chefs, and entrepreneurs, allowing participants to experience the sounds, cuisine, and staples of local culture while engaging in unbeatable networking and pitching opportunities.
Other top African creatives, including Nigeria’s Fireboy, Ghazi Shami, Founder & CEO of EMPIRE, and Nomcebo Zikode, Grammy Award-Winning Singer & Songwriter, will also participate in a panel discussion on the topic “Celebrating African Talent: How International Collaboration Is Shaping The Future Of Music”.

Acclaimed as the most followed Afrobeats artist across social media, Davido has cemented his position as a global force within music. With over 2 billion streams and over 1 billion video views across his 11-year career, he has been a forerunner in connecting the world to Afrobeats and vice versa. Breaking records in 2019 with hit singles “If”, “Fall” and “FIA”, the tracks marked the beginning of the adoption of Afrobeats around the world and saw the artist pick up awards and nominations accordingly. In 2022, he was handpicked by FIFA to lead their 2022 World Cup soundtrack, “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)”. Career milestones have also included two sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena, headlining AfroNation around the globe, and closing the 2022 World Cup with a performance seen by over 250 million viewers.
On March 31, Davido released his third album Timeless, a project that explores the concept of time through themes like love, pain, and joy, across a blend of popular genres including highlife, Afrobeats, dancehall, and the in-vogue, South Africa-born amapiano sound.
