Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson earned two awards as winners of the 2021 People’s Choice Awards were revealed on Tuesday nigh.
The 49-year-old actor, businessman, and former professional wrestler received awards for “Male Movie Star of the Year” and “Comedy Movie Star of the Year” for Disney’s Jungle Cruise. He was also presented with the People’s Champion honor award by Jeff Bezos, and dedicated the it to the late Muhammad Ali; and Shushana, a recipient for the Make-a-Wish foundation.
In introducing Johnson, Bezos, 57, said, ‘His achievements are legend. His work ethic is unparalleled. He transcends all demographics. He is impossible not to like and he can sure put down a lot of pancakes.
In the winning speech, Johnson thanked his fans for the votes and even spoke about his daughters stating how they were watching him on tv and were figuring out what being famous meant. Stating further, he mentioned that he will surely tell his daughters that the most important thing of being famous is to be kind. On the other hand, Dwayne Johnson also bagged The Comedy Movie Star of 2021 for Jungle Cruise and sweetly dedicated the award to his co-star Emily Blunt.
Kenan Thompson hosted the show, which was aired simultaneously on both NBC and E! Tuesday night from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica and was produced by Den of Thieves, with executive producers Jesse Ignjatovic, Evan Prager and Barb Bialkowski. In addition to SNL‘s Thompson emceeing the event, presenters included Cardi B, Jojo Siwa, Laverne Cox, Lil Rel Howery, Leslie Jones, Chase Stokes and Tracee Ellis Ross.
