On Friday (December 16), Stonebwoy was left with excitement after he brought down the house during his FIFA World Cup Fan Festival performance in, Qatar Doha.
The multi-award-winning Ghanaian international musician was welcomed with an energetic and chanting roar from the fans who had gathered at the Al Bidda Garden waiting to be served with a vibrant mix of afropop, dancehall, and reggae music. With a spectacular immersive performance, “1 GAD,” as he is recently called, created an unforgettable spectacle that thrilled his live audience.
While the four-time best reggae & dancehall artiste in Africa has had massive crossover hit songs spanning multiple genres, as well as gracing notable international festival stages around the world for over a decade, he knows he took a significant step up by performing to a massive worldwide unusual audience at Fifa Fan Festival.
Stonebwoy began the nearly two-hour show with his new self-affirming single “Gidigba” (Firm and Strong), before energizing the already energized crowd with performances of crossover songs from his catalog. The show included other standout moments, such as Stonebwoy giving 20 minutes off his set to the DJ to play back-to-back Ghana music and observing a minute silence for Davido’s son, Ifeanyi, who passed away after drowning in a pool.
Stonebwoy is set to host the 6th edition of his event Bhim Concert at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Friday (December 23). The night will feature specially curated musical performances by the Grammy nominated artiste and this year’s guest, including: Jamaican heavyweight Busy Signal and Nigerian music sensation 1Dabanton.
At just 34 years old, Stonebwoy has blazed a trail as one of Africa’s most awarded and lauded artists to date. Gearing up to release his fifth full-length album after signing an artist deal with Def Jam/Universal, the global stage is rising up to meet the talent that is Stonebwoy in 2022.
