Highlife musician Akwasi Poku, known in showbiz circles as Kwaisey, has disclosed that, no Ghanaian entertainment practitioner portray the character or peculiarities to be christen as celebrities.
According to the ”Me Hia Odo” crooner, the Ghanaian entertainment industry players need to ascertain wealth and their life status reaching it high standard, before they can be verified into the state of being well-known and much spoken about; having the qualities of being famous.
Speaking as guest to Kpekpo Maxwell Justice(KMJ) on Hitz 103.9 FM’s breakfast show dubbed ”Daybreak Hitz”, the highlife musician stressed that Ghanaian entertainers don’t have what it takes to be called celebrities, explaining that, Ghanaian celebrities make strenuous or labored effort to synchronize their status with their brands.
Using the Western World as a fact to buttress his statement, Kwaisey Pee stated that, celebrities are hailed and worshiped, adding that, they have the wealth to give moral or psychological support or courage to their talent.
He stated that, celebrities in the Western world live luxurious life, drive the most expensive automobiles, owns private jets, have huge investments credited to their name and their royalties can sustain them for a life time.
Kwaisey revealed that, there are no royalty law guiding the Ghanaian entertainment practitioner, which is also a contributing factor to poor state of living of Ghanaian celebrities, urging the Government to structure some mechanisms to aid all collective organizations to elevate the financial status of all performing arts in Ghana.
However, Highlife musician Kwaisey Pee, mentioned that the only person who have attained the definition of a celebrity status is the Chief Executive Officer of embattled gold dealership entity(Menzgold Gh), Nana Appiah Mensah who had a private jet many other luxurious cars to his name.
