In her quest to provide quality health care to their constituents, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Prestea Huni-Valley Constituency, Hon. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi and her able Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Mozart Kweku Owuh, have cut sod for the redevelopment of the Prestea government hospital in Prestea.
The facility upon completion would be equipped with an ultra-modern operating theater, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) room, emergency room, consulting rooms, offices for medical officers and Out Patient Department (OPD)
Speaking at a brief ceremony held at the premises of the hospital on Monday, September 30, 2019, the MCE explained that the project was in fulfilment of a promise made by the Akufo-Addo led government to give the Prestea government hospital which has never seen any major facelift since independence a befitting upgrade.
He noted that the MP has already started the developmental agenda by transforming the deplorable children’s ward into an ultra-modern one.
The facility which is being constructed by Unique Development Limited is expected to be completed within six to eight (6-8) months with finance from the Mineral Development Fund (MDF).
Hon. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi explained the need for the expansion and redevelopment of the hospital, saying, the poor state of facilities at the hospital could no longer serve the number of people in Prestea and its environs.
She assured to commit resources to help improve upon the Heman Health Centre to help ease the pressure on the Prestea Government Hospital. However, the MP bemoaned the poor state of roads in the constituency and promised to help fix them with the help of the government.
The legislator finally appealed to the people to rally behind her, the president and his vice as they deliver on their promise made to the good people of prestea Huni-valley constituency.
The Chief of Himan, Nana Nteboah Prah IV commended the government, MP and MCE for undertaking such a good initiative.
The Medical Superintendent of the Prestea Government Hospital Dr. Djabetey Darko expressed his profound gratitude for the construction and redevelopment of the health facility. He called on the contractor to pre- inform the hospital staff on time so as to enable them evacuate the hospital premises before work begins.
