Ministry of Foreign Affairs Grants Diplomatic Passports to Wode Maya, Rocky Dawuni, Dentaa Amoateng MBE and Two Others

Ghanaian travel vlogger Wode Maya, Grammy-Nominated singer Rocky Dawuni, entrepreneur Dentaa Amoateng MBE, artist Ibrahim Mahama, and broadcaster Anita Erskine have been granted diplomatic passports by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

The Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced the new envoys during the official media launch of the upcoming Diaspora Summit 2025 held on Wednesday, the 17th of September.

The five winners were chosen based on their global presence and history of advancing Ghanaian and African culture outside. With the aid of cultural diplomacy, trade promotion, and international engagement, the diplomatic passports are meant to assist the holders in better “connecting Ghana to the world.”

The diplomatic passports are part of a targeted strategy to expand Ghana’s diplomatic arsenal by giving prominent cultural ambassadors the authority to promote trade, tourism, cultural interaction, and Ghana’s soft-power interests overseas, according to the information provided. Ghana’s image and access in important markets are meant to be enhanced by the awardees’ combined profiles, which include digital reach, artistic renown, broadcast influence, cultural entrepreneurship, and worldwide networks.

The five recipients—Wode Maya for his storytelling and travel content throughout Africa; Rocky Dawuni for his music and international advocacy; Anita Erskine for her media and public engagement; Ibrahim Mahama for his contemporary art that ignites global dialogues; and Dentaa Amoateng for her diaspora mobilisation and entrepreneurship platforms—are well-known for their work that positions Ghana on the international scene. Each offers a distinct line of influence that the Ministry seems to be using for people-centered diplomacy, including digital, artistic, broadcast, curatorial, and diaspora networks.
