Norwegian Organisation to Convert Plastic Waste to Diesel in Ghana

Norwegian Social Enterprise, Plastic Revolution Foundation will next year, commence conversion of three thousand six hundred (3600) tons of plastic waste to diesel monthly in Ghana.

According to the Chief Executive Officer, Erik Solheim, even though the Project is expected to commence in the first quarter of the next year, his organization has already started engaging various local stakeholders, including plastic waste pickers and manufacturers in the value chain to ensure that the plant will have a constant supply of the waste.

Chief Executive Officer, Erik Solheim revealed this when officials of the Foundation called on the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Hon. Ceclia Abena Dapaah to brief her of the impending Project. Present at the meeting were a Deputy Minister of the Ministry, Hon. Michael Yaw Gyato and the Chief Director, Mr. Joseph Obeng-Poku.

The Minister in charge of Sanitation, Hon. Cecilia Dapaah who received the news with excitement, assured the team of the utmost support of her ministry. She said the successful implementation of such a project will contribute greatly in achieving the President’s vision of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa.

She explained that, the menace of plastic waste has been one of her greatest concerns since she assumed office a little over year ago, adding that, the technical team of the Ministry will prepare the necessary briefs to enable the Foundation to start its work and urged them to fly with the Project since her ministry will give them all the needed support to ensure a successful take off.
