Ousmane Dembele Shows Gratitude to Former Clubs in Ballon D’or Acceptance Speech

Monday night was a special one to remember for Paris Saint Germain [PSG] star Ousmane Dembele as he was crowned the 2025 Men’s Ballon D’or.

The 28-year-old player was crowned at a ceremony held in Paris. Other football stars who received honors include FC Barcelona stars Aitana Bonmati, Vicky Lopez, Lamine Yamal, England women’s team coach Sarina Wiegman, etc.

Delivering his acceptance speech, Dembele described the year with PSG as incredible and former Brazillian and Barcelona star Ronaldinho handing over the Ballon d’or to him as ‘exceptional”.

He thanked PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Luis Enrique, describing both of them as ”dads to me”.

Dembele also showed appreciation to his former clubs including Dortmund, Rennes and Barcelona. “I also thank all the clubs I’ve played for: Dortmund, Rennes and Barcelona. I was with great players like Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi,” he reflected.

The player added “The Ballon d’Or wasn’t a goal in my career but it’s exceptional to win. I worked for the team to win the Champions League, and to be thanked with a trophy like the Ballon d’Or makes me very happy tonight.”
