Pensioner Bondholders cry for payments of outstanding coupons on matured bonds

Members of the pensioner bond holder’s forum have returned to the premises of the Finance Ministry to demand payment of outstanding coupons on matured bonds.

On 8th May 2023, at the premises of the Finance Ministry, members of the pensioner bondholders Forum were seen on a demonstration to demand payment of outstanding coupons on matured bonds despite their continuous lamentations to government’s failure to pay matured coupons.

According to the members, the government has failed to pay their matured coupons and principals for more than two months although government defaulted on payments for coupons on matured bonds for pensioner bondholders who were exempted from the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme and to individuals who did not participate in the scheme.

Dr. Adu Anane Antwi said in an interview with Citi News that they were compelled by the government’s silence to return to the Finance Ministry to demonstrate.

“We were fighting for exemptions, we have been exempted, and now we are not being paid. We are fighting for coupons and payments”. He stated.
