Progress Chukwuyem crowned Nigerian Idol season 7 winner

The season finale of Nigerian Idol (Season Seven) was held at the weekend with singer Progress Chukwuyem emerging as the winner. He succeeds Kingdom Kroseidem, who won the competition last year.

The weekly show, produced by MultiChoice Nigeria, provides a platform for undiscovered local talent to launch their careers. Season seven of Nigerian Idol was hosted by IK Osakioduwa, and the competition’s jury panel included musicians D’banj and Simi, as well as industry veteran Obi Asika.

The 21-year-old outscored fellow finalist Zadok to win the ultimate prize package of N100 million, which included a cash prize, a brand new SUV, funding for an EP and a music video, as well as sponsored products. A leading Nigerian producer will also produce an EP and video for Zadok.

“Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to vote from Day 1 until this time,” Progress said after winning. Thank you for realizing my dream.”
