Sadiq Abu Abdulai Unveils The Official 3Music Awards 2022 Timeline

3Music Networks has announced the 3Music Awards 2022 timeline, which will see the award’s board make some substantial and significant adjustments to its awards procedure in order to reflect the award’s continuous dedication to evolving with the musical landscape.

The producers of the awards ceremony have been consistent with a tradition of running compelling and intriguing campaigns to assert the annual themes of the 3Music Awards.

The three-month schedule, according to Sadiq Abu Abdulai, Music Executive and CEO of 3Music Networks, will begin with activities and major activations that will precede and culminate with the 5th edition of the annual music’s biggest night.

According to the timeline, events will officially commence this January with plaque presentations to talents who won in their respective categories at the edition. A board reconstitution, board review meeting, and series of board meetings would be held to ensure that the awards rules and guidelines are transparent and equitable.

The official nominees for the 5th edition of the awards ceremony will be announced in February. It would be followed by a voting campaign and an industrial development program with their partners, HD+. In addition, a television show titled “Road to # MusicAwards22” will premiere. Executions will appear on partner TV channels & across digital & social platforms ahead of the nominees announcement.

March will be the hub of Women’s Brunch (6th March), Fan Festival (13th March), and the main 3Music awards night on 26th March.

Now in its fifth year, the 3Media Networks-organised awards scheme honours outstanding musical achievements in Ghana and across Africa. This year’s 3Music Awards will celebrate talents and their works in multiple categories, including the coveted Artist of the Year as well as the newly introduced EP of the Year and Best Alternative Song (Best Alte).

KiDi won four categories at the fourth edition of the awards night, including Song of the Year, Afrobeats/Afropop Song of the Year, and the newly introduced EP of the Year. Stonebwoy, a dancehall artist, and gospel musician Diana Hamilton came in second and third place, with three trophies each. Stonebwoy took home awards for Highlife Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Viral Song of the Year, while Diana Hamilton was named Gospel Act of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, and Best Female Vocal Performance.

Amaarae won Video of the Year for ‘Fancy,’ while Nigeria’s Davido earned his second African Act of the Year Award.

The 3Music Women’s Brunch on International Women’s Day, which recognized exceptional women in Ghanaian music, preceded this year’s main program. The brunch also witnessed the first set of medals for this year’s 3Music Prizes, including Emerging Woman of the Year, Most Streamed Female Artist of the Year, Music Woman of the Year, and a variety of honorary awards.

The 2021 3Music Awards was hosted by broadcasters Jay Foley and Naa Ashorkor, with performances from Santrofi, Gyakie, Medikal, Joey B, Diana Hamilton and highlife legend Nana Acheampong, among others.
