Sauti Sol are Infinix Mobile official brand ambassadors – See photos from the signing

Kenyan pop band Sauti Sol has inked an ambassadorial deal with Hong Kong-based smartphone company Infinix, making the award-winning group the first music act in the country to be associated with the brand. The deal requires the group to promote the upcoming Infinix Note 10 smartphone, which will be released in Kenya on 16 June.

“We are excited to introduce the new addition to the Infinix family and our first official brand ambassadors Sauti Sol,” Infinix said. “As a youth-centred brand, we believe they are the very embodiment of why young people should make their way through life regardless of the challenges they face along the way.”

Sharing the news on Instagram, Sauti Sol said: “We’re stoked to be the newest addition to Infinix family and their first official brand ambassadors.”

This deal follows Sauti Sol’s previous affiliation with brands such as Chrome Vodka, Coca-Cola and Safaricom. It marks the latest partnership between corporates and East African recording artists. In February, Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz was named brand ambassador for Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Itel Mobile, and a month later Kenyan artist Femi One landed an ambassadorial deal with Monster Energy, making her the first African female artist to be associated with the brand.

After signing a recording contract with Universal Music Africa in February last year, Sauti Sol released the highly successful album Midnight Train and was named among the recipients of the #YouTubeBlack Voices Fund. Early this year, the band became the first Kenyan act to appear on a Times Square billboard in New York City.
