Ladé has been announced the latest Fresh Finds Africa artist by Spotify.
With her breakout hit “Adulthood Anthem,” the new Nigerian music sensation will lead the Fresh Finds Africa playlist during this month-long campaign and will be featured in a couple of editorials. “The happiness that comes from being acknowledged for the consistent good work you do is an entirely different feeling. I can’t lie about it, really. I’m so appreciative,” Ladé said.
Spotify’s head of music for sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu, said the streaming service was proud to welcome Ladé to the Fresh Finds Africa programme. “She is a voice for the youth of today, not just in her homeland Nigeria but globally. She has captured the hearts of our editorial staff and those of more than 300 000 users on TikTok by expressing herself in an authentic and relatable manner on this track. She’s an incredible individual with beautiful vocals. Ladé is the voice, without a doubt.”
Ladé, whose real name is Omolade Oyetundun Rachael, gained public recognition after publishing a cover of Simi’s song “Duduke.” In addition to her 2022 breakout hit “Adulthood Anthem,” Ladé is responsible for the 2021 release of Omolade (The EP). Additionally, she has a number of jingles for radio and TV commercials recorded.
