STONEBWOY bags 7 nominations at 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards

The nominees for the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards were announced at an unveiling ceremony that was held in Accra at the weekend, with Stonebwoy receiving seven (7) nominations ahead of the presentation ceremony in May.

The Ghanaian reggae, dancehall and afropop musician’s nominations come after having had a phenomenal run in the year under review with the release of notable crossover hits and international tours. His nomination includes the most coveted Artiste of the Year, where he will compete along with Joe Mettle, Piesie Esther, Black Sherif, Camidoh, Sarkodie, King Promise, Camidoh, and KiDi.

He also scored nominations also include a ‘Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year’, ‘Record of the Year’, ‘Best Male Vocal Performance’, ‘Best Afropop Song of the Year’, for ‘Therapy’, which 2022 as his debut DefJam record. He is also nominated for ‘Best Music Video’ for visuals of his self-affirmative single ‘Gidigba’ (Firm & Strong) as well as the most controversial ‘Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste’.

Stonebwoy, born Livingstone Etse Satekla is no stranger to success at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Having been the recipient of Artiste of the Year in 2015, earning recognition with Vodafone Green and Music for Good awards respectively, as well as setting record as the Ghanaian artiste with most Reggae & Dancehall Artiste of the Year award wins (6), he has been described as the king of ragga and dancehallin’ for Africa in his career.

Produced by CharterHouse Ghana Limited and sponsored by telecommunication giants, Vodafone Ghana, the VGMAs scheme is recognized as the nation’s preeminent multicultural and music awards show from a Ghanaian perspective.

This year’s presentation ceremony, officially known as 24th VGMAS, will celebrate the outstanding achievements and performances of creatives across more than 30 competitive categories, spanning reggae and dancehall artist of the year, highlife artist of the year, hip hop artist of the year, vocalist of the year, and more. This year’s event is slated for a one-night experience on Saturday (May 13) at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre and will air live on TV3 and other affiliate media houses.
