”Successive Governments Do Not Contribute A Quota To The Creative Arts Sector” – Rex Omar.

Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician and Chairman at the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), Rex Omar has bemoaned that in regular succession without conspicuous disparity, governments has developed less interest in the Ghanaian creative arts and entertainment sector.

According to the ”Konka” hitmaker, founder of Ghana’s independence and a former head of state, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s, has been the only government that invested and elevated developments relating to the Ghanaian tourism, arts and culture sector during its tenure of rule.

Chairman at the music right organization the body, Rex Omar, stated that, making political commentary or coming on the frontline of politics is an objective of advocating for the fixing of the devastated creative art sector, as the successive governments and Ghanaians at large are not contributing their quota to the sector.

Speaking to George Quaye in an interview on Showbiz A-Z on Joy FM on Saturday, Mr. Rex Omar revealed that, Ghana first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is the only head of state who has practically achieved a successful creative arts sector for the nation Ghana.

According to him, successive governments, have not done much for the country, explaining that, in terms of infrastructure and in terms of policies that draw investments into the creative arts industry, current governments have not no success story in the creative arts sector.

Chairman at the Ghana Music Rights Organization(GHAMRO), Rex Omar, called for a greater commitment by governments to support the creative arts sector, as he noted that, there is so much potential in the sector and given the right support, the creative arts industry can help change the fortunes of the economy and image of the country.
