TuneCore hosted its first-ever Artist & Industry Mixer at the Afrochella Music
Museum on Wednesday, December 27th, 2022. The mixer allowed the music distribution giant to connect with industry stakeholders and Ghana’s media. Comedian and media personality Eddie Kadi hosted the mixer.

The Ghanaian music industry is also at the heart of the main growing Afrobeats and highlife influence on the globe, so it was fitting that TuneCore hosted a music panel session during the mixer on “The Future of Ghanaian Music Industry”. The panellists featured top music executives like Elizabeth Ntiamoah, General Manager, Boomplay; Kwesi Arthur, Ian Priceless, Music consultant and Radio Producer at Y107.9FM. Moderating the music museum panel session was Music journalist Gabriel Myers Hanson.

“We are happy to partner with Afrochella for our Artist and Industry Mixer, and it’s important to have discussions with Ghanaian music industry thought leaders on the issues and prospects for local artists over drinks and, of course, great music. We also had our rising DJ contest grand finale, with the winner, DJ Ethan Tomas, getting the opportunity to perform at Afrochella. It is truly an exciting time for the African music industry,”.

Also present at the mixer was Faryal Khan-Thompson, Vice President of TuneCore International, who said, “Africa represents one of the fastest growing music regions in the world, and for TuneCore. We are committed to supporting our artists in all our global markets. I’m thrilled that TuneCore is partnering with Afrochella to support African artists and highlight the incredible talent and sounds coming from the continent. Promotional support and opportunities like the TuneCore x Afrochella Rising DJ contest are important for artists when access to these opportunities has been difficult to come by”.

The mixer ended on a high note as the finalist DJs for the TuneCore x Afrochella Rising DJ contest battled for the winning chance to perform on the main Afrochella stage, where DJ Ethan Tomas from Brooklyn, New York, with origins from Ghana emerged as the winner to perform at Afrochella.
