The announcement was made at a recent press conference to launch his fight with Whyte, saying: “This is the final fight of my career. I’m retiring after this. £150m in the bank—healthy, young—I’m gonna buy a massive yacht abroad. I’m retiring! I’m out. This is my final fight. I’m done.”

According to Complex, Fury vs Whyte fight is set to take place at Wembley Stadium on April 23, and will also be the first time Dillian Whyte will be fighting for a world title in his career; many think this is a long-overdue title shot for the Brixton-born fighter.

Fury is coming off the back of his trilogy series with Deontay Wilder, in which the first fight ended in a draw before Fury went on to comfortably win the following two battles. Following the fight with Wilder, he was set to face the winner of the Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk fight after their rematch, but Fury’s new announcement has cast serious doubts on a possible Fury-AJ match-up.

Dillian Whyte failed to turn up to the press conference where Fury made his announcement, with the current WBC champion saying that Whyte is “terrified”. The Londoner is the mandatory challenger for Fury’s title and is believed to be in preparation in Portugal.
