US Vice President Kamala Harris meets with Black Sherif and Amaarae at Vibrate Space

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris met with Ghanaian musicians Black Sherif and Amaarae as part of her three-day working visit to Ghana.

On Monday (March 27), the vice president visited Vibrate Space, a community recording studio for young artists located at Freedom Skatepark, Accra. She was accompanied by award-winning globally acclaimed movie actors Idris Elba and Sheryl Lee Ralph to take a tour of the facility, where she met with the sensational musicians and other local artists and entertainers.

Following her tour of the facility, Her Excellency shared her official “My Travels: Ghana, Tanzania, and Zambia” playlist, featuring songs by Black Sherif, Amaarae, as well as other notable Ghanaian musicians such as Sarkodie, Kuami Eugene, M3NSA. The 25-song playlist, which is now available Spotify, is intended to highlight and amplify the artists and sounds from the vice president’s travels across Ghana, Tanzania, and Zambia.

Earlier, Her Excellency Kamala Harris met with Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo. The two leaders discussed a wide range of topics, including economic and regional stability, and speak with reporters afterwards. Later, the vice president and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff were hosted at a state banquet by Nana Akufo-Addo and first lady Rebecca Akufo Addo.

H.E. Harris is scheduled, on Tuesday (March 28) to speak at Cape Coast Castle, a place where enslaved Africans boarded ships headed to the Americas, an unsavory time in both countries’ histories. She will then meet with businesswomen on Wednesday, while her husband visits a chocolate factory started by two sisters.
