Afrobeats & Highlife artiste, KiDi, has been crowned Artist of the Year on Day 2 of the 22nd Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) in Accra on May .
Acclaimed as “Sugar Daddy”, the renowned musician behind local hits including ‘Mon Bebe’, ‘Spiritual’, ‘Touch It’ and the entire ‘Golden Boy’ album, clinched the award ahead of King Promise, KiDi, Black Sherif, Joe Mettle, Sarkodie and Kuami Eugene, who won the coveted trophy at the 2020 edition.
In addition to the ultimate prize, he walked away with the awards for Most Popular Song of the Year, Album/EP of the Year, Afrobeats/Afropop artiste of the year, and Reggae/Dancehall song of the Year, to become the biggest winner at the 2021 VGMAs.
Stonebwoy won four awards, including reggae/dancehall artist of the year, best collaboration, Music For Good, and the Vodafone Green Award. On the night, Black Sherif and Fameye each received two trophies for hip hop song and best new artist, as well as Afropop song of the year and songwriter of the year.
