Wizkid to headline Afro Nation US festival in Miami

Afrobeats musicians Wizkid and Burna Boy have been named as headline acts for Afro Nation US 2023 in Miami on May 27–28.

Building on the popularity of the previous fests, which held its first event only a few years ago in 2019, the Miami instalment will continue to highlight some of the leading artists in Afrobeats, dancehall, hip-hop, amapiano, and other black-led genres. It follows the second edition of Afro Nation Ghana, which saw Meek Mill climaxed his historic trip to Accra with a much anticipated headline set last December.

The two global musicians will lead an impressive line-up of artists that includes Nigerian breakthrough star Asake, Fireboy DML, CKay, BNXN, Rema, Jamaican reggae and dancehall heavyweights Mavado and Beenie Man, Ghana’s contingent, represented by hip-hop sensation Black, and songbird Gyakie. French-Malian Afro-pop superstar Dadju has also been confirmed among the esteemed roster of performers.

The maiden Miami edition of the festival will also welcome some of the biggest acts from the South African amapiano scene at the Piano People stage. Uncle Waffles, Musa Keys, Focalistic, Vigro Deep, Major League DJZ, DBN Gogo, Kamo Mphela, Kelvin Momo, and more will showcase their Amapiano credentials at the festival’s Amapiano Stage.

Meanwhile, Afro Nation’s Portugal edition will be held from 28 to 30 June.
