Ghanaian Afro-fusion artist Younga 101 teams up with Demmi for a collaborative new single “Dodo”. With a mid-tempo afrobeats sound and a soft-hitting hip-hop 808s produced by Hila Boi, Younga 101 and Demmi trade stories of how they are consumed by their emotions for their love interests.
“Dodo” is a love song with a unique twist, as it comes from the Ghanaian Akan dialect and translates to “Too Much.” The song is all about understanding what you truly desire and being willing to do whatever it takes to achieve it. Younga 101 and Demmi, the artists behind the song, understand the complexity of love and its unpredictability. However, if you are someone who knows your heart’s desire, nothing will deter you from pursuing it. The more unattainable it seems, the stronger your attraction towards the person becomes.
Speaking about the record; Younga 101 reveals “Dodo” was one of those songs we decided to create because we had discussed it earlier that year at Questo’s debut “anansesem”. During our first studio session together, Demmi had the beat on loop for a short while and made the first verse. I came up with an idea for the hook and, in the end, it turned out to be a magical record.
With both artists having an incredible release run in 2023, Dodo is the first of many collaborations fans must look out for. The release follows Younga’s 2023, Break The Rules single and Demmi’s collaborative single Dawn.
