Multiple awards winning Ghanaian broadcast journalist, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana, popularly known behind the microphone as, Abeiku Santana, has received a Lifetime Achievement Award in Media at the Pan African Executives Summit Awards 2018, in Accra.
The event was staged at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday 9th March, 2019, array experts able to appreciate the media field from various heterogeneous social heritage and has the objective of honouring Africans who have positively affected society in their endeavor, media and the business world.
Founder of the Despite Groups of Company, Dr. Kwame Osei Despite and Managing Director at the Groups of Company, Fada Dickson, was also recipient of honours in recognition of their noteworthy accomplishments and how their humanitarian acts have given hope to the hopeless and help to the helpless.
The name Abeiku Santana has been firmly rooted in the media world for the past twenty and more years now. His contribution to broadcasting can never be overlooked for a long time to come. But, over the past couple of years, Abeiku divided his time between broadcasting and tourism earning him the name Mr. Tourism.
Receiving the Lifetime Achievement Awards in Media, Abeiku Santana, revealed that, he will go into retirement; redraw himself from all media-related activities, and wholeheartedly delve into tourism adding that, his umbilical cord will still be connected to media even it will not gain much of his attention.
According to Abeiku, the decision to retire from media was a tough one because of the love he has for it, but the time has come for him to make the switch to another sector he has loved for a while now. He didn’t categorically state when he will retire.
However, the media mogul reminded the patrons of the ideals of the first President of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to make Africa a great continent to handle to it owns affairs uninterruptedly. He added that, Africans must unite under one emblem, using the same travel passport within the ECOWAS regions.
