The Senior National team, the Black Stars is on the verge of success after a long hunger for continental success having own their last title in 1982.
The Black Stars are in high spirits and are adequately prepared to bring their fifth trophy to their motherland. The 2019 African Cup of Nations which has lasted 62 years since its inception and this year is of no exception as the Black Stars have qualified and will have their opening match against the Squirrels of Benin this evening.
Ghanaians on the other hand have expressed mixed feelings concerning the Black Stars of Ghana’s group ‘F’ opener against the Squirrels. According to some section of Ghanaians who predicted doom stated that, Black Stars will not be able to lift the trophy this year, judging them from the perspective of lack of unity, series of murmer over positions that will carry them no where and their enviness for money.
Some Ghanaians has also expressed great dissatisfaction in the decision taken by Coach Appiah as to why he beached these two players but others also congratulated him for his bold decision taken for the betterment of the team.
Others too have an optimistic point of view and are praying and hopeful that the Black Stars will do everything in their capabilities to win the match against the Squirrels to accumalate the much needed points to top the group’s standing. Ghana share the same group with Guinea Bissau, Cameroon and Benin.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah has named three debutantes, Lumor Agbeyenu, Kasim Nuhu and finally Thomas Agyepong in his starting line-up to face the Squirrels on Tuesday night in their 2019 AFCON opener which he thinks will help the team tighten their belts to win the game thereby beaching the two key players, the General Captain, Asamoah Gran and the Assistant Captain, Kwadwo Asamoah.
Therefore Ghanaians are finger crossed, and hopeful that the Black Stars will put on a good behavior in Unity and put up their best to win the starting game with the Squirrels thereby silencing the negative hopes of people and making Ghana proud.
