Aitana Bonmatí wins 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or for The Third Consecutive Time

Aitana Bonmatí of Barcelona has won the Women’s Ballon d’Or for the third time in a row. In addition to winning the award in 2023 and 2024, the Spain international helped her team win a domestic triple and was a key player in Barcelona’s run to the Women’s Champions League final, when they were defeated 1-0 by Arsenal.

In addition, Bonmatí scored a goal in extra time to help Spain win the semi-final, and she was a key player in her country’s run to the Women’s EURO 2025 final.

After winning the Women’s Champions League for the first time in eighteen years, Arsenal was awarded Women’s Club of the Year, and Ousmane Dembélé took home the 2025 Men’s Ballon d’Or.

This year saw the addition of three new categories honouring female athletes: the Women’s Gerd Müller Trophy for top scorer in the club or national team in 2024–2025, the Women’s Kopa Trophy for best young player in 2024–2025, and the Women’s Yashin Trophy for best custodian in 2024–2025.
