MTV Base has launched a reality TV show featuring South African music duo Major League DJz. Episode 1 of Inside Life: Major League will be broadcast on DStv channel 322 on 19 August at 9.30pm.
The show will follow the personal lives of Bandile and Banele as they give viewers an exclusive and intimate look inside their lives. It will also feature cultural sensation and MTV Base The Culture Squad member Uncle Vinny and cameos from some of Major League DJz’s celebrity friends. The eight-part series was produced by MTV Base and Soul Candi Studios and will also explore the duo’s interests and travels across Africa as they strive to grow the Major League DJz brand within the African dance scene.
“Major League DJz is led by one of the country’s most innovative female leaders in the artist management industry,” Major League DJz said. “We are privileged to work with Mimi Thabethe, who is our strategist and manager. We are constantly inspired by her commitment and the diverse perspective and spirit of teamwork she brings to our business. Leading us to a number of milestones including this amazing announcement of Major League DJz on MTV Base, Mimi has proven to us that competence and the ability to deliver high-impact work should always be our main focus.”
Thabethe says the continued growth and evolution of the Major League DJz brand is a clear representation of artistic excellence in Africa. “I am excited that for the first time viewers will get to see the duo as not just DJs but see them encompass their many titles like father, friend, businessmen, mentors and dreamers. This is another first for the duo and a great step in reinforcing their brand promise of growing the culture.”
ViacomCBS Networks Africa senior vice-president and general manager Monde Twala said: “MTV Base is the youth culture home to African music stars and we are excited to showcase Major League DJz’s journey of iconic sounds. This exclusive behind-the-scenes look will be a fan favourite with our audiences as they share in the duo’s incredible lives.
