DL FM has announced that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi will host the final funeral ceremonies for highlife legend Daddy Lumba on December 6, 2025.
After a brief illness, Daddy Lumba, whose real name was Charles Kwadwo Fosu, died on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital. He was sixty years old.
His passing caused widespread sorrow, as admirers, business associates, and public leaders—including former and present presidents—poured in tributes.

On August 2, 2025, the Creative Arts Agency and the Fosu family held a nationwide candlelight vigil in Accra’s Independence Square to celebrate his legacy. Similar tributes were organised in Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, and other regions of Ghana, and the event, which took place from 6 to 10 p.m., drew thousands of people.
Later, on August 30, 2025, a one-week memorial service was held at Independence Square in his honor. Hundreds of admirers, artists, dignitaries, and family members came together to honour the late musician’s life and accomplishments in accordance with Akan custom.
Considered by many to be one of Ghana’s most important musicians, Daddy Lumba leaves behind a legacy and a collection of timeless highlife hits that inspire generations to come. Aben Wo Ha, Yentie Obiaa, Theresa Abebrese, Sika Asem, Ako Te Brofo, and Odo Bewu Dee are some of his well-known songs.
He gained multiple accolades for his enormous contribution to Ghanaian music and culture, recorded over 30 albums, and won multiple Ghana Music Awards during his four-decade career.
