“Disregard reports suggesting Ghanaians can travel visa-free to Dubai,” Embassy of Ghana urges

The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana, Abu Dhabi – United Arab Emirates (UAE), in a news statement signed on August 9, 2021, is urging the general public to disregard all publications on the internet and the traditional media suggesting that Ghana passport holders can now travel visa free to the United Arab Emirates.

On August 8, a section of the media reported that, Ghanaians seeking to travel to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can now do so with ease following the approval of visa free deal between the two countries.

According to the reports, an agreement to offer visa free entry to Ghanaians and UAE passport holders has been approved by Parliament. The visa waiver agreement, which was contained in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Ghana and the UAE on mutual exemption of entry visa requirements, is in respect of diplomatic, service/special and ordinary passport holders, it added.

However, denying such reportage, the Consulate General of Ghana, Abu Dhabi stated that, though there has been a ratification by the Parliament of Ghana of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Exemption of Entry Visa Requirement between Ghana and the United Arab Emirates, processes of its implementation have not completed.

The Embassy said, it will officially communicate any changes to the current entry visa regime between Ghana and the United Arab Emirates when the agreement comes into force.
