Doreen avio debuts new radio show “Matter Dey” on hitz FM with mr. Logic

Doreen Avio, a Ghanaian elite journalist, has debuted the first episode of her new radio show on Hitz 103.9 FM, a local radio network.

Dubbed “Matter Dey”, the two-hour radio programme, which commenced on Saturday (Jan. 22) from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, discusses trending topics, but not limited to entertainment or music alone, that generated the most public excitement within the week. The show features music executive Mr. Logic as a regular panelist who assists in discussing the topics presented.

The debut episode tackled controversial trends ranging from sports, entertainment, and music. The topics included: the sack of Milovan Rajivack as Black Stars coach by GFA following a poor AFCON campaign, the Nima shooting that had Shatta Wale being tagged along, and also matters arising from the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

Mrs. Avio has won several awards including the Female on Air Personality at the Moreklue All Youth African Awards (MAYA), best achiever in media (radio) Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards, Best TV Presenter at an event held in London in the United Kingdom, Best TV Presenter Nollywood Entertainment and Leadership Awards (NELAS).

She is currently the co-host for Hitz FM’s late afternoon show ‘Cruise Control’ and Let’s Talk Entertainment on Joy news. She has hosted big events in the capital including the MTN music festival, Heroes Concert, Women Connect Conference, Ghana Party in the Park festival in the UK and a host of others.

In 2021, Doreen Avio earned a partnership from the Embassy of Switzerland, Ghana to help support female disc jockeys in Ghana after a survey by the DJ’s Union of Ghana (DJUGA) indicated that women made up fewer than 6% of DJs in the country’s creative ecosystem. “Female DJ of the Year” at the 2021 Ghana DJ Awards, DJ MJ is the first beneficiary of Doreen’s timely benevolence.
