As the month of October which has been dedicated to the creation of awareness, education and talk on breast cancer inches to an end, Dorothy Amuah, the founder of Dorothy’s Hope; a Breast Cancer Foundation with the mission to empower, educate and encourage women affected with the disease over the weekend had its 2018 edition of the Walkathon and breast cancer screening as well as education for women within the Accra metropolis.
The philanthropist who doubles as the C.E.O of Chic Optique, Base Dynasty and Black Carpet Events Headquartered in both Accra, Ghana and the U.S.A together with some Ghanaian celebrities and well-wishers walked from Cantoment post office to Tema Station where hundreds of women gathered and were fed, screened and educated on breast cancer.
Notable faces among the hundreds that turn up for the event include, PY Addo – Boateng, Khadijat of TV Africa, Sandra Ankobiah, Zion Felix, Desmond Tutu, Mimi Kay, Twins dun beg, and Ronnie is everywhere.
The professional optician with 15 years plus experience who survived breast cancer is an active member of the American Cancer Society and The Susan G. Gorman Foundation. With her experience, it’s no news that Dorothy believes in prevention than cure and encourages early screening for women in general.
In the future, Dorothy is keen on using this platform to provide a help center for breast cancer patients and survivors with units such as Prosthetics, Nutrition, and also Counseling where they will be encouraged and educated on the right foods to support their compromised immune system and ways to take care of their appearance to help boost their self-esteem.
