Accra, Ghana — Dr. Afia Agyinsam Amponsah is set to host the largest female health screening ever organized in Ghana on January 3rd and 4th, 2026, at Efua Sutherland Park.
The two-day exercise forms part of the national campaign “3000 on 30,” which aims to screen at least 3,000 women within 30 hours.
According Dr. Amponsah the initiative seeks to address the growing burden of non-communicable diseases in Ghana, many of which are linked to conditions that could have been detected early. She noted that millions of women, especially in low-income and rural communities, have never undergone basic health checks including blood pressure, blood sugar, breast health, or reproductive health assessments.
The event will offer a free and comprehensive health experience for all participants. Services include full medical screening, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration, a National Blood Service donation drive, individual counselling, referrals, and the issuance of personal health profiles.
Screenings will cover blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, breast and cervical awareness, menstrual and reproductive health, fertility, fibroid indicators, mental health, sexual safety, maternal wellbeing, menopause guidance, and lifestyle risk assessments. A blood bank unit will also be on-site for voluntary donations to the National Blood Service.
According to the campaign team, the exercise is intended to make early detection a national culture and ensure that preventable health conditions among women are identified and addressed promptly. The event is expected to draw thousands of participants and mark a significant milestone in women’s healthcare advocacy in Ghana.
