With a very strong theme “Embrace Equity”, many women across Ghana and by extension globally, have come together to celebrate International Women’s Day 2023, an annual tribute paid to women on March 8.
Ghana’s Deputy Attorney-General, Diana Asonaba Dapaah, who doubles as Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Justice, also added her voice to this year’s commemoration.
In a video she released on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from Goa (in India), she said, “as we celebrate International Women’s Day this year, we call on all stake holders to celebrate the collective successes in advancing equal rights and opportunity for Women, while recognizing the existing challenges in advancing opportunities for Women; more particularly with an avowed resilience and the conviction to advance equal rights and opportunities for Women.”
She was quick to add that, eulogizing Women and giving them equal rights and opportunities should never be seen as a premise for competition. A very strong point she lighted in her statement was that, “equal rights and opportunities for Women should not mean lesser rights and opportunities for Men.”
“To YOU Woman out there, each day is an opportunity to be a better version of yourself”, she concluded.
She is in Goa (India) as part of the 23rd Commonwealth Law Conference where she will be speaking on the theme, “common challenges in uncommon times”.
Here in Ghana, there are several Women soirees cum seminars happening this week across various parts of the country to throw more light of International Women’s Day 2023.
