President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revealed that, the current administration has arrayed all necessary structures for the enactment of the Creative Arts Bill in law.
According to the President, Akufo-Addo, the passage of the bill into law will involve the establishment of a creative arts fund to give assistance; be of service to the work of creative arts practitioners.
President Akufo-Addo made this revealation at the sixth Musicians Union Of Ghana(MUSIGA) Presidential Grand Ball at the Accra International Conference Centre on last Sunday.
The 6th MUSIGA Presidential Grand Ball was graced by distinguished public figures including the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo; the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia and the Second Lady, Mrs. Samira Bawumia; ministers of state, captains of industry, members of the diplomatic corps, musicians and MUSIGA executives
The 6th MUSIGA Presidential Grand Ball witnessed the honoring of six Music Industry Heroes including, Prof. Kofi Abraham, Pat Thomas, Naa Amanua, Asabea Cropper, Kwadwo Akwaboah and Abirekyireba Kofi Sammy.
The event also saw four Music Industry Pillars, Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban, Vodafone, 4Syte TV and Kwame Sefa Kayi and some distinguished personality, Ransford Antwi, founder of Space FM and Sun City Radio were all honored.
There were amazing performances by Patience Nyarko, Adina, Tic Tac and Samini who had the President dancing to his hit song Linda. Other performances were by Bob Pinodo, Asabea Cropper, Naa Amanua, Pat Thomas and Daddy Lumba who invited the Maestro Kojo Antwi on stage.
However, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo mentioned some projects to be initiated by his government to develop the creative arts sector including instituting a new national headquarters for the MUSIGA.
According to the President, he has instructed the Minister of Works and Housing to relocate the Union following the commencement of the Marine Drive Project at the current position of MUSIGA.
Meanwhile, President of MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kuffour popularly called, Obour called on corporate Ghana to continue to support the Union in its efforts to improve the lot of the ageing musicians in the country which was his vision eight years ago when he sought to become the MUSIGA President.
The onetime musician and road safety advocate, Obour urged the President Akufo-Addo to reintroduce music education at the basic level because of its potential to improve musicianship in Ghana and also its pedagogical benefits.
