The newly appointed Asante Kotoko head coach wants to hit the ground running as he kicks off his Porcupine adventure in a matchday 18 encounter with Eleven Wonders.
Mariano Barreto will lead the Reds to face the Techiman side at Nana Ameyaw Park on Saturday, April 3.
Kotoko shared the spoils Wonders in the reverse fixture under head coach Maxwell Konadu.
With Kotoko placed 4th on the table, Barreto has said his side are prepared to change the club’s current position.
“I am very happy to see the players start the training sessions. Since I came they are all happy and excited. And they showed me that they really are coming to fight to change our position on the table. Because they are not happy with our position on the table We are fourth at this moment and they want to be the first. But they know that they have to work hard to try to change this position.” he said in a virtual pre-match presser
Regarding the draw in the previous game between the two this season, the ex-Black Stars coach said Kotoko will be in for all three points this time.
“Some of the players just arrived from the Black Stars. So today we had another training to prepare for our match against Eleven Wonders. I know we drew the first match in our home. So now we are going to play in their home but the target is the same for all the matches. We are going there to fight to win. This is our mentality, this is what we are looking forward and we will do everything to get it.” he added
Asante Kotoko, 4th, are on 27 points, four points behind leaders Karela United. Whereas Eleven Wonders 5th from the bottom of the table.
