Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey has directed all Metropolitans, Municipal and District Assemblies ( MMDAs) to collaborate with their respective police commanders and other security apparatus to ensure that all beaches from Ada to the Coastal boundary with the Central Region remain closed until further notice.
The directive issued by the Minister in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and the Ghana Police Service is part of efforts to ensure sustained compliance with President Akufo-Addo’s Directives on COVID-19 safety protocols.
According to the Regional Coordinating Council in a press statement sighted by GBAfrica.Net signed the Region’s Minister, there is constant engagement with operators of beach resorts to ensure adherence to the the directive.
They in their statement directed all MMDAs to ensure heavy security presence to enforce compliance at all times, demanding all public places to have hand washing facilities, employing all safety protocols.
According to the Council, violators of the instructions should be arrested, fine or prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.
