KETA SHTS becomes first high school from the Volta Region to reach NSMQ

Keta Senior High Technical School has become the first school from the Volta Region to make to the grand finale of the annual National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

Formerly Keta Secondary School, Keta SHTS (represented by Francisca Lamini, Bright Senyo Gadzo and James Lutterodt) defeated their biggest rivals Wesley Girls’ High School and Tamale SHS in a fiercely contested semi-final duel. The school scored a convincing 53 points after the last round, whereas Wesley Girls’ High School and Tamale SHS received 35 and 31 points, respectively.

The school was presented with the Goil Riddle Bonanza, worth Gh¢ 2000 for solving 3 out of the 4 riddles in Round 5 of their semifinal contest. Elsewhere, the three competing schools: Keta SHTS, Wesley Girls’ High School, and Tamale SHS also earned Gh¢3180, Gh¢2100 & Gh¢1860 respectively in the Absa Bank Ghana Money Zone based on their total scores in their Quarterfinal contest.

In the grand finals, Keta Senior High Technical School will meet six-time winners Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, while they wait for the final school to join them in the final match between KNUST SHS, Prempeh College (hoping to win a fourth trophy), and Opoku Ware School.
