Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has advocated the promotion of local movie production in the country.
Speaking on Hitz FM’s Day Break Hitz on Monday, Mr Logic called for more investment to be made into the industry.
His comment stems from the proliferation of telenovela series on various local television channels, a development he says is contributing to Ghanaians’ indifference towards local movies.
Mr Logic does not get the merit in translating telenovela TV series into Asante twi when the Kumawood movie industry can be revitalised to serve that purpose better for consumers.
“If we want to discourage telenovelas, let’s encourage Kumawood. We need to start encouraging Kumawood to shoot and produce more Ghanaian-oriented series, because now they are translating into twi.”
“The way they are proud, if we think the language is that powerful, then let’s speak it ourselves. Who speaks Twi more than Kumasi?” he quizzed.
The movie industry, which was once popular and a household name, is gradually falling on hard times.
Industry players want urgent steps to be taken to revive it.
