Former President John Dramani Mahama has declared his intention to run for president in the 2024 general election.
On Wednesday morning (February 21), Joshua Alabi, John Mahama’s 2020 campaign manager, picked up the nomination forms on behalf of the former president to contest the flagbearership race of the National Democratic Congress together with some regional chairmen of various regions.
He said, “We are here to pick up the forms for his HE, John Dramani Mahama.” As you are aware, we are in very difficult times in this country; the economy is in shambles, people are suffering, and the summary here is that people are crying for the NDC to come back. The NDC has gone through all of its structures and elections; it is time for the flag bearer to deliver the 2024 elections,” he said.
The caucus, led by Dome Kwabenya Chairman, Isaac Lamptey, also promised that they will raise and pay the filing fee of GH500,000 for Mr. Mahama to contest the NDC primaries.
As a nomination fee, Joshua Alabi presented a check for GHS 30,000.
The group believes that there “is no need for flagbearer elections, but instead, the party should directly endorse the former president as flagbearer for the party should directly endorse the former president as flagbearer of the party for the 2024 presidential elections.
