After a successful career in music and the establishment of his Empawa Africa label, Nigerian star Mr Eazi continues to expand his business empire.
In an effort to expand his music empire, Eazi has announced his decision to acquire African music catalogues.
The singer made his intentions known in a post shared on his X account on Monday the 15th of September 2025.
In the said post, the ‘Leg Over’ crooner urged artists who wish to sell their catalogues to submit proof of ownership and a 3-year earning history to his Empawa Africa outfit for a legit transaction.
He wrote ”Btw I’m buying catalogues so if you got African music catalogue that you own ( with proof ) and you have 3year earnings history and you wanna sell a piece contact
The move comes after the music star’s luxurious wedding held earlier this month. Temi Otedola and Mr Eazi completed their multi-country wedding journey with a white wedding in Iceland — a location that holds deep personal meaning for the couple. The ceremony, held at Hallgrimskirkja Church in Reykjavik, was intimate and attended by close family members, in line with their long-standing wish to keep the celebration private and meaningful.
The sale of catalogues has become a topic of discussion for many African acts and stakeholders in recent times. Ghanaian musicians including Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Lasmid, Nacee, Amerado, Fameye, etc have reportedly sold some of their catalogues.
While some view the move as insufficient, others see it as a sound business strategy. In a recent interview, afro-dancehall star Stonebwoy opined that no Ghanaian catalogue is worth 3-4 million dollars yet.
