Popular YouTuber and travel vlogger Wode Maya is overwhelmed after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs granted him and four other diplomatic passports for their works that project Ghana on the global stage.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa made the announcement at the media launch of the Diaspora Summit held on Wednesday,17th of September 2025 at the Foreign Affairs Ministry Headquarters.
Wode Maya was granted the diplomatic passport alongside Grammy-Nominated musician Rocky Dawuni, international businesswoman Dentaa Amoateng MBE, artist Ibrahim Mahama and broadcaster Anita Erskine.
Reacting with joy in a Facebook post, the Youtuber said being on the journey showcasing Ghana and the African continent to the world, he never imagined a village boy like him would ever be granted a diplomatic passport.

never in my wildest dreams did I think a proud village boy like me would be holding a Diplomatic Passport. I’m truly humbled and deeply grateful to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ghana 
From today, don’t just call me Maya call me His Excellency 
. If you see me at the airport, please—no more “bro, bro”… it’s now “Your Excellency, Maya”
