Nicki Minaj Jumps Out Of Retirement; Drops New Song & Video.

Nicki Minaj couldn’t stay away for too long. The 36-year-old rapper returned with new music on Thursday (September 27), dropping a fresh track with PnB Rock, featuring Murda Beatzcalled”Fendi.” The release of the record and a corresponding visual to tease Nicki’s upcoming 127-piece collection with Fendi comes three weeks after the history-making rapper announced her retirement from music.

Nicki kicks off the track, shouting out Murda and PnB before asserting that this is “really my favorite song.” PnB then comes in singing about dripping his “shawty” in designer, mostly Fendi, of course, before Nicki returns with some raunchy bars. At one point, she even discusses her relationship with boyfriend (and rumored fiancé) Kenneth Petty, rapping: “I don’t even look sexy/ But he still tryna sex me/ Ain’t gotta get all done up for my dude/ My attitude is the baddest thing that’s on me, boo.”

The Queens native used the track to promote her upcoming capsule collection with Fendi, due on October 14. She additionally dropped a minute-long visual that features the track and shows her posing among models to give a first look at her collection, which caters to women with curves.

“I want to make clothes that make girls with my body look sexy,” she told ELLE, adding that she wants women with curvy bodies to feel confident and sexy enough to wear whatever they want. “What I want [to tell] girls is not necessarily, ‘Go and gain weight and have a big booty,’ but ‘If you do have curves, be proud of it, flaunt it—love the skin you’re in.’ As clichéd as that sounds, I’ve been really trying to teach myself that,” she continued, “‘This is who I am; take me or leave me, bye!’ “

Earlier this month, Nicki shocked fans on Twitter when she announced that she’s calling it quits on her decade-long music career. “I’ve decided to retire & have my family,” she wrote. “I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, ❌ in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. ✅ Love you for LIFE 😘♥️🦄.”

Hours later, Nicki responded to her fans confusion with an apology, acknowledging that she made a hasty decision choosing to announce her retirement online. “I’m still right here. Still madly in love with you guys & you know that,” she wrote, adding that “in hindsight” she should have spoken to her fans about her retirement on the radio, however, she plans to do just that soon. “I promise u guys will be happy. No guests, just us talking about everything. The tweet was abrupt & insensitive, I apologize babe ♥️🙏,” she shared.
