The second season of the biggest singing competition in the land finally hits our shores this Sunday. Old Mutual Amazing Voices is a 13-episode Pan-African singing competition reality television series.
After a successful first season that saw Kenya’s Wanavokali walk off with a whopping $100 000 cash prize and continent-wide recognition, the Old Mutual Amazing Voices plane finally makes its second landing only this time, Africa’s big brother, Nigeria gets to participate. Thus the participating countries from 5 African countries are; South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria (new), and Zimbabwe.
The show aims to find unsigned groups from three musical genres: Gospel, Pop, and Rhythm & Blues (R&B). Despite changes to the audition process, the participating regions: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zimbabwe successfully held their auditions digitally, and after thousands of entry clips were received, two groups in the gospel, pop, and R&B genres from each region were chosen to take centre stage in South Africa for a chance at the ultimate prize.
Old Mutual Amazing Voices Season 2 will start broadcasting from Sunday 11 April 2021 and will be hosted by television royalty, Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo from South Africa and Elikem Kumordzie from Ghana .
