Ghana born dancehall sensation Derrick Obobi Junior popularly known as J Derobie has revealed that, he invested and employed more energy space, enough practice to work on his talent that lead to the explosion of his first single ‘Poverty’, yielding an overwhelming result.
According to him, ‘Poverty’ was his heartfelt and much anticipated music which he allocated more time to pen the lyrics down and also throwing the spot light and the concentration on the tune that enable him to apply for Mr. Eazi’s Empawa 100 Africa for an aid.
The Dancehall sensation revealed that, taking a glance at the current economic instability in the Ghanaian climate, gave him the motivation to produce this tune, explaining that, “there is a small piece of financial instability in every home, people struggle to earn a wage to make a living”.
Speaking in an interview with entertainment show host Andy Dosty on an Accra based Hitz 103.9Fm’s morning show ‘Daybreak Hitz’, the ‘Poverty’ hit maker stated that, he had much passion for entertainment, even though there were difficulties in elevating his piece, as his financial status didn’t embolden him to promote the tune.
The Nungua-based fast rising artiste revealed that, his application for Mr. Eazi’s Empawa 100 Africa wasn’t an easy decision for him, adding that, he was left in dilemma contemplating on the best mechanism to complete the process.
J. Derobie stated that, he has intentions of working music gurus and ans some international folks to elevate his brand beyond his jurisdiction, as he’s been receiving great endorsement from pioneers in the music fraternity.
Speaking on the video circulating on social media displaying huge sums of money presented to him by Guilty Beatz, the Dancehall sensation stated that, Mr. Eazi has been supportive since he’s career was out doored, adding that, Eazi gifted him the money to enable him work on more tune.
