R2Bees: “We don’t need anybody’s platform to have a global recognition”

The record has been set straight by R2bees on why they hardly perform at Wizkid’s concerts even though they have quite an enviable relationship with the Nigerian Afrobeat star.

They made the revelation in an exclusive interview with Joy Entertainment’s Doreen Avio debunking the speculation of their inability to show up with performances at Wizkid’s shows.

“We move when we want to move. If we want to be on stage with Wizkid it’s pretty much easier for us to do that, but we just want to strengthen our corners before we make a major move” Mugeez explained.

Paedae, who took off after his partner’s submissions, had more detailed reasons, citing examples to prove their ability and possibility to perform together with Wizkid if it became necessary. He described their relationship with the latter as “a brotherhood”. He related to Doreen, circumstances when the Nigerian star made appearances at R2bees music concerts without necessarily performing on stage.

As a way of reciprocating the love and support, they find nothing wrong with showing up at a Wizkid concert, without joining him for performances on stage. Paedae mentioned precisely, “we are top artists, we don’t need somebody’s platform to blow”.

Closing in on debunking the rumours, Mugeez advised fans and followers alike, to reduce their expectations, and rather “calm down a bit”.
